Goodbye to a Landmark

The wheels of change grind interminably and incessantly forward. Despite the wishes of many Sunset District residents, Parkside Grammar School has been rendered to rubble and dust. Torn down to make room for yet another building that may or may not be torn down in 60 years.

One last look at an institution of learning that, for many of us, has incomparable
memories. This stately edifice where we learned the art of card flipping. Where Barbara (Pittson) Hunter S58 hung out in the upper (girls) playground waiting for an errant kick to come sailing over the fence. If she caught it, you were out (Barbara never dropped a ball).

Those hallowed halls where the floor tiles between my classroom and the principal’s office are indelibly imprinted on my mind.

One last look, only memories remain. Parkside Grammar School is no more.
