| Lincoln's Pioneer Class 1940 -1944 |
More than one hundred alumni and guests greeted one another with hugs, kisses, handshakes and slaps on the back. Some had not seen classmates in all most sixty years. There was much reminiscing and catching up done by all attendance. Year books were thumbed through and the display boards with photos, newspaper clippings of our 1943 championship football team, and dance bids were all greatly enjoyed.
A very touching letter from Victor Hancock, F42, Student Body President, was read to the group. Victor recounted his war and fond memories of Lincoln in its early days. Charles Grant, F44 Student Body President, proposed a very heartfelt toast to all of our classmates who did not return to us at the end of World War II. Alice (Clayton) Lahl F45, Secretary, represented the Alumni Association. Roslyn (Tuska) Beauchamp S43, created clever favors for everyone-boys and girls in Block L. sweaters.
We were most pleased to have four pioneer teachers with us. Mrs. Barbara (Fox) Avery, Math, Mrs . Margaret Downing, P.E., and Marjorie Maher, Math, all came from the East Bay via Bart.Miss Marie Schmidt, Business, drove in from Marin County. Thank you so much for being with us.
